I would like to take my laptop into multiple vechiles even rentals I drive and have a clue where I'm going. I seen this from garman but it's too bulky with dongles and stuff http://www.garmin.com/products/gps18/

Sleek would be nice like a GPS PC card in the laptop. Any sugesstions?

Laptops can be used for automotive GPS tracking by use of good software and a GPS (USB) sensor. The best out there is DeLorme's Street Atlas 2006 combine with their Earthmate LT-20 GPS sensor. It has a suction cup that holds it on the windshield.

The problem is, it really is not made for use by the driver in that it requires too much visual attention. It would be ideal with a "co-pilot."

The next best thing for direct use by a solo driver is a Garmin or Magellan or Tom-Tom Go unit on the dashboard. The best is a built in GPS system.
