Pictures will work without iTunes, though you will still want to connect to your computer.

Define 'files'.

Email tends to work well. Just attach your pictures to an email and send it to yourself. Then you can access it on another computer.

Assuming a PC here? just connect the phone to the PB via USB and them look for the phone via start menu -> computer -> Potable device -> open it up & grab what you want.

Plug it in and do the needful.
