How Do I Transfer Documents From Computer To Laptop?

Let me start by saying that I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to put it.

I got a laptop yesterday and I want to move some documents and things from my home computer to the laptop. Besides buring to a CD, how can I do this?

I do have wireless setup so maybe it will work through that? How do I get my lap top recognized on the network (on my home computer)? I guess I could put things there and transfer them.... just need to be able to see it!

I kinda answered my main question myself but added a new one... thanks for the help!

networking the 2 computers would be easiest. set both the desktop and laptop to the same workgroup, and they should be able to see eachother.

if the network thing doesn't work now, and you're pressed for time, just go pick up a cheap usb drive at best buy.

How do I make sure they are in the same work group?

I have a network at home, 3 computers but only 2 show up...

I don't remember the lap top showing up last night.

right click "my computer" and choose properties, then go to the "computer name" tab and it will show you what workgroup you are currently in, and you can change it (at least that's how it is in WinXP).

They are in the same workgroup, HOME

From the laptop I can see the other 2 computers but not the latop. It does not see it at all. What do I do?
