Hi,

I have a Xbox 360 (with HD) and I am going to sell it and buy another. How do I transfer all my data over from HD to another? Could I just swap the drives? Are the drives tied to the console in any way? That is, if I call in for warranty, will they figure out that the drive I have didn't come with the console originally? What about a data transfer kit?

Thanks.

You can swap the drives. It won't affect your warranty. Any arcade games you have on your current Xbox will only work if you are logged into the gamertag that purchased them on the new machine though.

It's that easy? After I swap, will the old system (with the new HD) be entirely clean? For example, will there be any lingering CC information or anything on the old system?

Shouldn't be. All the CC info is stored on the HDD. Not on the machine itself.

I thought CCC info was stored on Live itself, not the machine. Seems more of a liability to have it on the machine than on Live

<shrug> I may be wrong. I know all the personal information is stored on the HDD. The only thing stored on the machine itself is the console settings for display, network, etc.
