How do I test the CPU voltage, and any chance I can adjust my rails?

Figured C&C would be a better place to get a decent answer than CPU/OCing forum.

Anyway:

How do I go about testing my CPU voltages with a DMM?
I've tested the rails, but now I want to specifically test the CPU.

Using a DFI Ultra-D.. can anyone point me to a guide/etc. with the spots where I test?

I looked around, wasn't quite sure 🙁

I tested the 12v rails last night, and they came up at 12.49 idle; 12.33 under load.

I was testing from a molex connector, so I don't know if that would account for the major over-voltage.

What should I do?

Since you PMed me, I'll give-up what little I got. Zepper and maybe a few others will
supercede anything I have to offer.

The only PSU that I have opened*and*adjusted the pot on was an old Fortron 400watt.
It always ran on the low side of spec so I bumped up the pot=mistake because it was
done w/o loading the unit. Shucks.! So an old car head light was hooked up to the 12V line, it offered a 6A load with both the low and high beam at the same time. The 5V was
loaded with several high output fans. Then the PSU's pot was re-tweeked.
If I had not re-adjusted the pot, voltages would have been out of spec on the high side.

For testing and/or adjusting a load MUST be put on the PSU. Then just follow
the pinouts with your DMM. Pinouts will be found in your PSU manual or in the last
link of this post.

Real testing equipment is in the thousands of dollars. 🙁
If the PSU is causing unstable voltages, the best most of us can do is open it up and look
for bad caps. Caps that are bulging from top, sides, bottom or venting rust brown baby poop.
Sometimes the caps will just lean over, caused by the bottom swelling.
The caps that most often go bad are 8-10mm in diameter. Opening the PSU will
void ant remaining warrenty.

They have to have a resource guide over there. According to badcaps.net, the upper tier
DFI boards have VG caps, better than ASUS but not as good as SuperMicro or Intel.
