Since I installed my 5870, I've been getting crashes. I thought it was my drive so I did a complete format on a Raptor 150, installed XP (instead of Vista 64) and I am still getting random crashing. The vista event viewer gave this error message:

Log Name: Application
Source: Microsoft-Windows-WMI
Date: 1/23/2010 11:53:55 AM
Event ID 10
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic

Computer: AVCHD-PC
Description:
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

</Event>

As for XP, I've only had it happen once so far but the event viewer doesn't say too much.

When I was on Vista I googled the problem and it said to delete some files in the wbem/repository folder and that didn't help.

I've tested the hell out of the ram using Memtest 86 v2.11 & v4.0 as well as Vista's Memory Diagnostic test and everything is fine there. I never had this issue when I had my 4870. Could this be a driver issue with the 5870 or is it the card itself?

I use ATITool's artifact finder to find overclock errors, but I don't know if it'll test for "random crashes".

I haven't overclocked the card and I have the latest bios for the Asrock Extreme. Infact nothing is overclocked on the machine.

Some cards just dont run well at stock, I had a 280GTX that I eventually rmad that had occasional crashes and the dreaded nvdll....thingy....

It ran fine by downclocking 50 on core and mem. If it runs well underclocked then you know its the card and you should rma it.

It also crashes in 2D mode too. Like when the clocks are ate 157Mhz GPU Clock and 300Mhz Memory Clock. Could it still be the card???
