look at the serial # printed on the bottom of the chip. It has a bunch of #'s and letters mixed in. Each set is a different identifyer. I believe it will have a capitol B somone along it to let you know. Ill research it a little and get back to you.

Now step by step we will ?decode? the stepping.

AXDA - The first four letters tell us that it?s an Athlon XP Desktop processor (where the LAST A denotes desktop). If the CPU is a Palomino core it will most likely only have AX.

1800 - The next 4 numbers tell you the performance rating (PR). Of course this is an 1800+.

D - Represents the packaging type... I have never heard of anything besides a D.

L - Tells you what the stock voltage of this chip is. L: 1.5v, U: 1.60, K: 1.65v, M: 1.75v. Generally the lower the stock voltage the higher you are able to clock the chip.

T - Informs you of the max die temp. In other words, if it get?s above that temp, it?s toast for sure. T = 85C, V = 90C.

3 - Size of L2 cache. 3 = 256KB, 4 = 512KB.

C - Stock front side bus. C = 133mhz (266mhz effective), D = 166mhz (333mhz effective), E = 200mhz (400mhz effective).

T599896 - The next 6 letter and numbers are unknown.

24 - It is rumored that the next 2 numbers tell you up to what processor model the core of your CPU could have been made into. 24 = 2400+, 25 = 2500+, etc. Higher is better.

8983 - The serial number of the core from a given batch/wafer. It?s rumored that a lower number means higher overclocks.

N - Some think that this letter tells us the location on the wafer that our core was cut from. Where the lower the letter, the closer to the center of the wafer. Closer to the center is said to imply better overclocks. However, I don?t know how much I believe this one.

IUH - Unknown

B - For those w/ Thoroughbreds, we know that: Thoroughbred A = A, Thoroughbred B = B

03 - Year manufactured

35 - Week manufactured

SPMW: It is thought by many people, that the third letter in this group can also tell us something about the overclockability. The lower the letter, the better the overclocker.
