Winter is coming up, and I was wondering if I should get new tires. I got my car about one year ago, so I drove it last winter and it slide pretty often, but it was usually pretty controllable, it's a FWD car anyway, although it was my first car so first winter experience. ANyway, I've noticed I don't have to go that fast to get some tire squeal around corners with dry pavement. Seems like I should be able to go faster than that, judging from like my bros car and other cars I've ridden in.

There looks like quite to be a bit of tread left too! Thing is, they are Kelly Charger's, which are prob cheap-ass?? How do I tell, would it be a good idea for winter?

If the car no longer drives well or the handing and performance is noticably worse.

You can see the treadwear indicators or you do the penny thing and can see all of Abe's head.

Look to see if the tread is about gone. Gun it and see if it spins out on you. If it's a race car, it might spin anyway. Use your best judgement.

I'd also back the previous suggestion to pick up a tread measure tool. Very useful and worth the money (pennies).

Cool, good links!!

I'll try that penny thing, and the measuring thing, I'll make sure there's at least 6/32 left cause that what it recommends for snow, and that's what is coming up soon!

I THINK that the tires on there are different than what the originals were. I think the originals were 195/something14, and these are 205/something14 or so, but I'll check on that. It's too dark, and too cold right now. :)

Oh, and I don't think they'd spin on dry pavement no matter what hehe! They spin pretty easily (almost too easy it seems, which is why I ask) in rain though.
