How do I take automated Time-Lapse photos

It is an amazing camera, but Canon decided not to include an intervalometer in the body (which is too bad because the competition does include that feature).

You can buy the Canon Timer Remote or the Chinese knock-off of the timer remote. Opteka makes one too.

Sorry for the MASSIVE Necrothreadding, but I dont hve one of those lying around. AND, my camera is the EOD 40D. They link by jpeyton doesnt have a D40 written on it.

And, what I need to do is like, keep the camera on for a few days and it takes a photo every 10mins etc, all automatically... Can it do that?

You need the Canon timer remote to do it; your camera cannot do it automatically.

Technically I believe you could get a laptop, a mini-USB cable and Canon's own software and program it to do this for you.

Select your camera in the Downloads Area and look for "EOS Capture 1.5 for Windows":

EOS Capture 1.5 is software exclusively for EOS Digital cameras that enables you to control the camera from your computer using the remote shooting function with the timer or interval timer, or to specify the camera settings.

Thanks, but, I need an answer. Can that timer take periodic pictures every few minutes or so? I know there are laptop alternatives, but I need to know if THAT TIMER will work.

Thanks.

Also, there only seems to be a Mac Version. and not a Windows one...
