How do i switch to agp 4x?

My computer supports agp 4x and i need to know how to set it to that now that i have a card that supports that, thanks.

There should be an option in your BIOS to select AGP mode.

There may be other driver settings. What kind of board is it? Is it a via chipset?

Make sure you install them in turbo mode.

In my experience, at least, AGP 4X mode would not work if you installed in normal mode.

i went into my bios and i could find nothing with agp 2x/4x when i i nstalled the new via drivers i did install to turbo mode, would it have automatically put it to 4x?

When you say "my computer" do you mean your video card or your motherboard?

both support 4x agp, but i recently had a tnt2 in it which isn't 4x but now i got a geforce 3 which is 4x.

I don't know what kind of motherboard you have but if it does
support 4x agp, the setting should be in the BIOS as stated by jfunk.
Check the manual or go to the manufacturers website.
If it's not in the settings, just whisper to yourself 10 times very slowly,
"I'm in 4x agp mode, I'm in 4x agp mode..." :D

I can already know what they'll say: "yes, your warrenty has ran out, oh we can help you with this issue for 39.95" stupid compaq, never ever am i gonna get a prebuilt pc again.

Try posting this question in the video forum. There are plenty of vid experts (geeks)
who might be able to help you. Compaq is a strange animal. Sorry I couldn't help.:(
