How do I stop WMP from adding stuff to library

Which OS, which version of WMP, and are the files in a watch folder?

If the media files aren't in a watch folder (or Library under Win7), then go to the Options dialog, and on the Player tab, uncheck the "Add local media files to library when played" box.

If they are in one of your Windows Libraries (Music, Video, etc.) you probably won't be able to delete them, as WMP is sourcing it's library info from the Windows 7 Libraries API (confused yet?). If they are somewhere else, you should be able to delete them and stop them from being readded via the dialog box I mentioned above.

Different issue, but I uninstalled WMP12 because it constantly ramped up to using 50%+ of my CPU and I run an E8500 at 4 GHz. The only way I could get it to stop was by ending the process in task manager. I read online that I think it could have been an issue with a corrupt .avi file but I didn't really want to spend the time to find it.
