How do I stop the hissing sound from the speakers?

I have a soundblaster live value and a set of cambridge soundworks fps1000. As soon as I get into windows I can hear a relatively loud hissing sound. I've muted all the sound inputs except for the wave one. Should I buy a new soundcard or new speakers? I'm sure it's one or the other and probably not both. Is it because my speakers are analog and not digital which results in this constant hiss?

turn down the volume...

seriously though, you shouldn't hear hissing that's anything close to loud unless your volumes are turned up all the way. Try setting your master and wav sliders in volume control at halfway (or lower) and adjusting only the volume on your speakers themselves. If that doesn't work try setting the windows volume controls high and keeping the hardware volume control low.

The only way to fully eliminate hissing is to hook up speakers digitally, but even with an analog connection and reasonable volume settings, you shouldn't hear loud hissing.

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. All I did was shut down the computer and move it to a new PCI slot and update the drivers and now it's gone. It's very loud and very annoying...definitly not normal.
