Anyone know how to get my phone # off of the LA Times spam list? I have caller ID, and receive approximately 1 call every 3-4 days. Please, I'm looking for a sure way to get rid of these people from calling me. I recall on Kevin & Bean (radio in LA); there were a couple ways to get rid of 'em but I somehow forgot what they did. Any clues would be appreciated.

A note for the LA Times:
Yes, I get the sunday paper. No, I do not want 6 more days!

1. answer phone when they call
2. tell them you're not interested, and please put your number on their Do Not Call List.
3. if they call again, sue them for 500 bucks(or is it 1000?) for each call.

If you tell them not to call again and they call again within five years (or some crap like that), you cannot sue them. The FCC fines them 10,000 for every infraction or each call after you tell them not to call you.

can you tell all the advertisement companies to put you on their DO NOT CALL LIST? because it would be great if i can get them fined for 10k each time they call

You can either put yourself on the national do-not-call list (which you can do online) or you can tell each and every individual advert company that calls you not to call back again.

Except in this case they prob can still call him even on the national do not call list as he is a subscriber to their paper.

Oh, snap! Forgot about that. Yup, if you subscribe to their paper, you're screwed. You have to dump your subscription or just put up with it.

Get a device called the "screen Machine."

On ANother note:

According to the FCC website, even with a pre-exisiting business relationship, you can request to be put on their own do not call list and they must comply. Furthermore, the FCC's brochure mentions a private right of action.

Here is a cool website where this guy actually sues telemarketers for calling him.

I usually don't answer the call, but I'll answer next time and try using the "put me on your do not call list". Do you think I should ask to speak to their supervisor?

Not at first, but any calls after that ask for the boss. Record all conversations with them, check local laws before doing this, and if it continues contact a lawyer.

Well, they called me 2X on Tuesday in the morning, once on wednesday at noon, and finally today at 5:30PM. I answered the politely, and responded "No, thanks" to the free daily subscription for a week, then said "put me your do not call list".
She responded with the comment that it takes 48 hrs to put me on that list. I responded that I have been getting phone calls almost everyday and I would like the calls to stop.

crossing my fingers...
