How do I stop Google auto complete?

When I want to search in Google, as soon as I type a letter a drop down list pops up with everything I've ever searched for listed. Now, 1 or 2 of these things could be a bit embarrassing depending on who's looking over my shoulder. Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this history? Thanks.

Or you can just hover over the entry and press delete and then it only removes the embarassing entries as a full wipe can sometimes cause suspicion.
