Is taskbar auto-hide on? either way, flip it.

Double click it or the right part of the taskbar to bring up the time dialog, change something, save and check the results.

Check registry entries for Explorer - or whatever it's called now?

As you an see I'm guessing - never seen this - I suppose there is an option to make it happen this way though - nothing in Vista happens by chance...

it left a minute ago. i've played with the taskbar and clock, makes no difference. i even poked around in Mail and Calendar. the internet seems to have never heard of this thing.

once a day, it pops up and stays for a few minute or a few hours. it doesn't have anything to click on, nor am i finding any reference to it in Windows or the internet. there's no change in the number of processes running, and it's happened since the OS was virgin. it's always on top, but not over task manager, and not in fullscreen video or games.

Intriguing. I've installed vista32 on several pc's but used it very little - still not comfortable with it.

And I'm so glad that you had this problem so you could share that nice wallpaper - so natural and relaxed and ... never mind.

I've seen the Adobe Acrobat updater cause the date window to pop up for no reason, but I was always able to get rid of it.

Really annoying though, but that's to be expected from Adobe. Try FoxIT Reader if you have Adobe on your system.

edit: you might want to put a NSFW warning on that pic.
