How do I show fps in Half Life single play?

I just got Half-Life (yes, just now) and have tried every console command I saw so far to show my fps (cl_showfps 1, cl_drawFPS 1)- nothing works, it always says unknown command. I haven't downloaded any updates cause the game doesn't have any obvious problems but do I need the updates just so the game recognizes an fps command? I have it set to OpenGL, looks a whole lot better than D3D, but I tried the commands in D3D also and same thing happened.

Anybody have any suggestions?

You could try net_graph 3 (or 0 or 1 or 2) Not sure whether they'll work in HL single player tho

The netgraph command should work just fine; works for me. Also use net_graphpos with a number from 1-3 to change the position of the netgraph.
