Should i just get a HUGE box and throw the guitar/case in there? Or do i just ship it in the case?

When I shipped mine, I wrapped the neck with bubble wrap, and packed the guitar inside its hardshell case. I then put the hardshell case in a box, and filled the box with packing peanuts. The guitar arrived fine.

Go to guitar center and ask for a guitar box. They should have plenty of those since they get so many guitars.

Put your guitar in your hardshell case, then put that hardshell case into the cardboard shipping box and add some padding. Tape/seal it well and ship away.

Box. Pad it so it not shifting and sliding around inside there.

If I was buying, I wouldn't be real happy to see an unboxed case show up at my door.

I've shipped guitars before and have always just dropped by a Guitar Center or Mars Music (remember them) and asked for a box. They take delivery of several guitars each week and should have boxes that they can part with for free.

DO NOT LOOSEN STRINGS COMPLETELY !!! Depending on guitar construction, Damage to neck may result. IF extreme low temps are anticipated, detune a couple of steps, but do not take all tension off of the neck.
Bubble wrap around neck and body to reduce movement within the case.
Get an oversized box and fill partially with packing peanuts. put guitar case inside and pack with peanuts to prevent case from moving.
Make sure signatures are required for delivery and tell the receipant to file a claim if there are any punctures to the shipping carton before accepting it.
Photograph before insertion. Insure, but don't expect the carrier's insurance to be very cooperative should you try to file a claim. That's why you need the photos.
Fed Ex always did well for the clients of mine. UPS, not so much.

I would try to make it not look like a guitar. My Martin D28 was intercepted by a guy that worked in the pack and ship I sent it too.

Fortunately he was stupid and it wasn't hard to put two and two together of me reporting a 1980s Martin D28 missing and him just so happening to get one.
