Hey my networking skills are weak. I have a dir 655 router. On my computer i have videos saved. What is the cheapest way for my aunt to get some of my videos to her computer (we live about 8 miles apart so not on the same network)? Or is it just easier subscribing to one of those online file hosting website and have he download it? The largest file i have is around 2 gigs

Depending on her skills, (and yours) you could set up a simple FTP server with FileZilla. You could set hers up to auto login and go to the root folder, from there she can browse and drag what she wants to the desktop/computer.

A few problems with this, however
1) your upload would be maxed out and thus, your internet connection will be slowed down (whenever she is downloading something)
2) FTP servers routinely get pegged from outside sources trying to hack their way in, trying a multitude of usernames/passwords (never use admin or administrator as a username)
3) have to open up ports on your router, configure the firewall and properly setup FileZilla to auto-ban IP addresses after so many attempts, and proper security (only give her read-only access)
4) providing support for her in case her client FTP settings change or she can no longer connect
