Hi
I just hooked up my three computers to a SMC Cable Router/Switch. I would like two of them to share certain folders. I understand that it is possible to have two of them Share certain folders on each computer. My questions are

1. How do I setup the network to share certain folders

2. How does each computer "see" the shared folders of the other computer, is it done through the Windows Explorer ?

3. What is the easiest way for the two computers to access the shared folders.

thanks.

What OS? I have Win98se and I am only aware of sharing drives, but not specific folders. This doesn't mean you can't do it with Win98. I just have not come across it yet. I expect NT and 2000 allow much more versatility here.

To share a drive in WIn98: first, enable file and print sharing if desired. This is in Networking in the Control Panel. Then go into My Computer and right click on a drive you want to share and select "sharing". You can assign a password to "read only" and/or "write".

You can access the drive and folders of the other computer with Windows Explorer. Just look in the Network Neighborhood listing below your drive listings.

First, you need to enable file sharing in Network Properties, and then you will be able to right click on any Folder or Drve, and setup these settings.
