I have a computer with windows 98 SE and cdroms but i have a laptop w/Windows 3.11 on it and no cdrom w/serial cord how could I transfer 98 over to it through my cdrom??
Don't know if this is much help, but one of the better products to do this is Laplink program. Or you can check out. Or you can check out for share ware clones of laplink on shareware sites such as www.download.com or www.shareware.com. I know its easy to setup direct serial link between 2 windows 98 machines, but don't know if its possible to do something with Windows 98 hyperterminal and Windows 3.11 Terminal program.
If your laptop has win 3.11 and no cd-rom are you sure that it's powerful enough to run win98 decent? If so.. why not just throw in some nic's would be much faster than say serial would be and a simple network would link them... you can get a PCI nick for your box cheap and borow or buy a PCMCIA nick for your laptop... granted it has a PCMCIA slot of course...
better check drivers for the laptop hardware before you bite that one off... even if you did get the cab files transfered to the laptop to do a hard drive install of windows, it may not load correctly or run without drivers. Laptops, especially older ones are a lot harder to get drivers for. Even if you can correctly ID the hardware in it.
