How do I set up automatic monthly purchases of ETFs and stocks?

I would like to automatically purchase ETFs and stocks on a monthly basis via my e-brokerage account (Ameritrade). Has anyone done this? I am not sure if Ameritrade (or any e-broker, for that matter) has a tool for this, so that is why I'm asking.

I know I can purchase mutual fund shares automatically through a mutual fund company, but I want to purchase ETFs and common stocks.

It's a bad idea. You are going to be paying comissions every month to buy etfs. Put it into a mutual fund instead. Open a Roth IRA first if you don't have one. You can still contribute for 2006.
