I want to set up a daul boot system with win98se and winXP. How do I do this, I have never done it before? Any good links to some articles explaining the steps to accomplish this?

Any help would be nice.

Easy!

Install Win98 first and install XP. And it is automatically done!!.

Also, the version of winXP I have is the upgrade with full version of win98se. Will this make a difference?

IIRC you get the choice of upgrade or clean install for XP so choose clean install (after you've installed win98) & point it to install the files on your free partition!

Best to have each OS on a different partition as opposed to what..? You can't have them on the SAME partition, so.. :)

<< It would be ideal to have two different hard drives, one for each OS. >>

I can't remember, but can that even be DONE..? Don't they need to be on the same drive, different partitions to be able to dual boot..? Anyone..?

No you can't go with upgrading if you want dual boot.

I tired doing this on my ECS K7S5A recently, with win2k and win98. I continually had errors while installing software that I eventually just gave up!

I am thinking about getting that romtec trios which separates the drives as an alternative to a daul boot setup. Anyone have one or heard any thing on it?

<< What do you mean fow99? No it doesn't matter, or No it can't be done?
Sorry for my ignorance.

Sorry I didn't make it clear. It can't be done. XP will overwrite Win98 and will import the applications therein.

One primary partition
C: FAT32 about 1GB, just for temp space and stuff

Extended partition with logical drives
D: NTFS or FAT32 4GB (Install Win2K/XP here)
E: FAT32 3GB (Install Win95/98/ME here. Note, drive may be D: if the previous partition is NTFS)
F:, G:, H:, etc. Personal Files/MP3/Games/Downloads

NOTE: Anything NTFS will not be visible in Win9x/ME *by default*
