How do I set one program to use affinity on one processor

BF2 runs twice as fast set affinity on one core as it does with no affinity settings.
Anyway to make BF2 set on one core, a long with other games?

I believe you can by using a tool called ImageCFG.exe.

Don't know much about it though, so i suggest googling it, as there are many links related to it.

It doesn't.

yup, i must be running at 1/4 of the speed with this qx6700.

that affinity stuff is old. you only needed that before MS patched patched XP to fix the thread scheduling on multicore platforms. now it runs just fine.

Wanna bet?

Yes, provide some benchmarks. I've done it and I've seen no difference in FPS and/or load times. Unless, you're running another CPU intensive program in the background or don't have the dual-core optimized driver/hotfix, you won't see any performance difference.

Also, you can set the affinity easily in the Task Manager->Processes Tab->select process->right click->Set Affinity

These screenies I just took tell me and others different, or else I do not have XP patched. (nothing in my updates box).
With affinity set to CPU1:

Both cores:

The both cores one was VERY VERY glitchy.

It's not an update that you'll find in your Update box. It's a hotfix that can found in their knowledge base and downloaded. Once installed, you don't need to set the affinity.

I think it may be the dual-core driver. Eh, forgot about that, then I will show ya what I get 😛

Oh C'mon guys, the re-registering of a key gets old QUICK, especially people with an OEM key, although I should just stay with XP Home instead of Pro for that reason, I should just get an OEM CD, since the discs won't work on anything besides my old Emachines board.
