How do I set my parallel Port to ECP

I just got a DLink mp3 player and it requires this. I've already checked and I know mine isn't set to this. Also, is this going to affect my printer and/or scanner. The manual said something about changing the BIOS and I've heard of this but never messed with. I have no idea what to do.Thanks.

You can go into your bios and change it.. I have a BX Master and it allows ECP+EPP which where I set mine.. you can also change it with the Hardware install utility but I would just do it in Bios..its easier for me anyway.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I should have let you know that I am a complete newbie and have no idea what my bios even is. Any explanation of what it is and how I get to it would be very helpful. Thanks again.

Messing around in bios is very risky if you dont know what you are doing... I recommend that you read your motherboard manual closely first..

just press delete when the computer first starts up (and there's a message at the bottom of the screen - press DELETE to go to setup or whatever. Then Exit saving changes - it'll tell you how once you're there.

I forgot to say parallel port mode will be under I/O device configuration or something like that. There's usually ECP and ECP+EPP. If you only change that I can't see that there could be any problem - if there is, just reset and press delete again to get back into BIOS and change it back or try the other ECP option (if there's both ECP and ECP+EPP).
