I bought 256mb of PC133 ram today. I installed it. When I run Sisoft Sandra 2001 it tells me my memory bus speed is 100Mhz? How do I set it to 133Mhz?

<< I have two KA-7's and beware that you are using the KX133 chipset. You might me better off running at 100MHz >>

Why? Stability issues?

because the chipset only supports 100mhz, i doubt you will be able to get the fsb anywhere near 133mhz

But it is a KX133, does the 133 not imply that the memory bus speed is 133Mhz or is the memory running at 133Mhz

I am new to this so please explain.

Thanks in advanve

fsb and memory dont always run synchronous

i know the via kt133 im not sure about the kx133 but the kt133 can run memory at fsb+pci or 100mhz + 33mhz = 133mhz memory, but... the kt133 can rarely get above 110mhz fsb and stay stable

like i said i dont know much about kx133 but the kt133 was about the same just had support for socketA

sorry i just realized i misread the origional post. i was thinking you wanted your fsb at 133mhz

you probably need to get out your manual and either set the memory speed in bios or with jumpers, and yes your board should have no problem running memory at 133mhz

Righto - s/b able to get FSB +33 MHz setting in BIOS or with a jumper/dipswitch on the board. S/b a good increase and chipset is supportive of that memory. The VIA chipset that gets full (proceessor and memory) 133 MHz FSB is the KT-133A.

Thanks guys, I did a search on google and got to a page where it says where in the BIOS to set it.

Strange that the board's default is 100Mhz...
