How do I run seti on a comp without internet?

I have an Athlon 700 sitting collecting dust. In the next month it will have internet but until then is there anyway I can download work units so it can crack without having to download them? And if I get the files where do I put them?

floppy disk! and seti driver! just put enough work units to fill up the floppy on there and then copy it over.

EDIT:wow Elf really simplified my 2 page article!

I have internet at work, but cant get throught he firewall to seti. What I do is email WUs from seti driver to myself. If you dont have internet you probably dont have that either. One thing you could do is burn a CD with 10 or so and use those. The incomplete WU folder is around 360k. A complete one is arounf 6k. After you get some completed copy them to a floppy and transport em back to the seti driver directory.

It gets kinda confusing. I have my Seti folder set up different and probably a little harder than most. Ill do my best here to discribe how I do it. Heres a layout of my seti directory.

-Seti
....-Setihome
...............1
...............2
...............3
...............4
...............5
....-Setiwork
...............1
...............2
...............3
...............4
...............5
...............6
..........results (from work}
.................1
.................2
.................3
.................4

How I do this is I have a seperate instance of Seti copied to each folder. The setihome directory is the one I run on my main machine. I have a shortcut in my startup folder for that.

The setiwork directory has seti driver in there also. That is where I DL WUs to copy to zip to then email them to myself at work. After I make the zip file I delete those WUs from that directory.

The results file in the setiwork folder is when I finish WUs from work I email them back then extract to that directory. Start that seti driver and transmit those to seti. Having the cache set to 0 for that instance keeps seti from downloading new WUs.

One reason I do it in seperate directories like this is to keep my WUs at work from making my numbers on my main machine look slower. I try to watch how fast WUs are done most of the time. Almost forgot. I use setiqueue only on the setihome instance. The others receive and send WUs straight to SETI.

Now after reading this it seems a bit jumbled...If you need you can email or PM me. Ill help as much as i can.

heh...
er... it seems like only 2 WUs will fit on a floppy, so when you want to transfer there will be a lot of floppy swapping. uncheck auto transmit on setidriver on the athlon. should be able to do about 3 per day so 6 floppies should be enough for 4 or 5 days.

The old SETIQ is ideal for remote PC's.
Just copy over qwork.xxxx files (WU's) into the SETIQ directory from another SETIQ,results come out as qresult.#### these can just be moved out to a floppy & put in the SETIQ with internet.

I dunno how easy or not it is with the new SETIQ though. If you want the old SETIQ let me know ,I still use it!:Q😉
