How do I run fdisk in XP?

I had an underpowered Power supply for my MSI mobo. I loaded xp home and had some install issues. I want to reformat the HD and start over with a fresh install. I've tried to boot from the XP cd no go there, made a start up disk in XP and tried to boot to floppy. It loaded but when I entered A:fdisk it states bad file name. Also at the floppy boot it reads as Windows Millenium. I've never had that OS. Dunno why a floppy boot disk from XP would say Millenium. Any ideas? Need instruction on fdisk for XP.

Even if you fdisk/format the drive how are you going to start the install process if you can't boot the XP disc?

Did you check the boot order in your BIOS? Will the XP disc boot in other systems?

My bad. I can change the boot sequence and boot to the cd or floppy. When I boot to the CD and select C:windows home edition to delete the partitian It won't let me wipe it out.

You should be able to delete/create partitions during the install process. Honestly, I've never installed Home Edition (only XP Pro) though so I could be wrong there.

Do a web search for delpart.

The Millenium thing is normal. There is no fdisk on a boot disk created with XP.

As someone else stated, you should be able to do what you want booting off the XP CD, but delpart will do what you want. Put it on your boot floppy.

If all you're trying to do is to reinstall, just start the xp installation and delete/format the HD during the installation.
