How do i run an app designed for Windows 8 on Windows 7?

Windows Phone 8 SDK downloaded from Microsoft requires windows 8 environment to install...

I have windows 7 64bit, is there a way for windows 7 to run an app in "compatibility mode for Windows 8"?

Negative. It probably needs the Metro hooks in Win8 for part of its work, which isn't something that can be replicated in Win7.

You can always try it and see. If it doesn't work, then update.

The SDK is using Windows 8 hypervisor to emulate/virtualise Windows phone 8 machines.

Win 7 does not have Win 8 hypervisor.
