I just brought an ipod mini and I have a couple vcds and I would like to extract the audio and put it on my ipod. I have no idea of how to do this. I searched but I can't make hesds or tails out of the things I find...
You probably wouldn't want to try to mess with Virtual Dub if that's the case, but since you won't really be aiming for top quality source rips, but just something from your vcd soundtrack that's hopefully decent, try mp3mymp3 recorder..
It's cool freeware, and about as simple a solution as you'll find. Within that program you just select the audio source, hit the record button. After stopping the recording you select save to .wav or .mp3.
www.videohelp.com has lots of answers. What you want to do probably requires four steps:
1. rip the mpeg2 information from the vcd. I don't know specifically which software you need to do this, but I've done it before with software I found at the link above. You should be able to find a FAQ that tells how to do this, or someone on their forums probably knows.
2. You need to get a piece of software called TMPGENC, go to file->mpeg tools and do a simple de-multiplex on the file produced by step 1. This action will create two files, one for the audio and one for the video.
