Depends on the keyboard, I'm pretty sure. I use a Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard, and it uses a program called Intellitype Pro to install drivers and the configuration software for the extra buttons.

What keyboard do you use?

I'm using a rosewill wireless keyboard. it doesnt' come with software to change the keys, it just automatically works without installing drivers with all the default hotkey assignments

Go to control panel, pick keyboard. If you have a Key setting tab then you can reprogram it. If you have the key setting tab, pick the icon that matches one of your buttons. Click edit and a modify key behavior pop up will appear, now pick "Start a program" then click next. Now put in the link of the program that you want the keyboard button to open, example "C:\Program Files\LR Cool\Virtual Dub\VirtualDub.exe".

Good luck.

You might also check here for your model number and get the appropriate manual, etc.
