I had windows me and windows 2000 (me on C: and 2000 on D:) and dual boot was working fine. However I needed to reformat my c drive to reinstall win me for sometihng and now it only sees win me..... i ran setup for 2000 and now it sees windows 2000 SETUP and windows me in the boot up menu. i tried to repair the windows 2000 installation but i do NOT have any emergency repair disks..... i guess i never made them. anyway i can repair my windows 2000 w/o reinstalling again??

it keeps showing the windows 2000 setup and win me now everytime i boot.... i'm using ME for now..... but i want to repair 2000 w/o doing it all over again

Normally when you boot up off the Win2K CDROM, you should be given the option to repair an installation of Win2K, without emergency repair disks.

If you decide to install WinME after Win2K, you should install using the command line setup /ntldr. Hmm....Do you have a WinME boot disk? Can you do something like sys c: and then do the Win2K repair again?

it does have the option to repair w/o emergency disks but then it says it can't find the a copy of win2000. it also has another option of repairing via repair console. I tried that and it found my windows 2000 installation. I then typed fixboot and it said it fixed something int he C: drive. But when i boot, the menu still only shows windows 2000 setup and windows..... that's all..... so i still can't boot into windows 2000....

anyone else know???

Did you already start installing Windows 2000 in an attempt to repair it? If so you're probably screwed now. You may need to complete the reinstall.

what do you mean start it? i had to start the install process from winme..... chose clean install.... it rebooted.... goes into win2000 setup.... from there i can choose to install it OR repair it.... i never chose install.... only repair from there.....

Ok, you shouldn't need to repair. Did you format the C: drive before you reloaded Windows? If not then some essential files should be there you'll need. If you didn't format it I'll email you a program to run in dos mode that will fix it.

...or if you want to find the program somewhere on the net, Or I can get off my lazy ass and post a link for you., it's called bootpart. Just put the bootpart.exe into your c:\ and type bootpart winnt boot:c:

That would repair it.

I am having the same problem Tro0LL. I'm going to try the bootpart program and see if it works. I really want to get that win2000 partition back.
