I'm formatting the disk that was the slave in my configuration as a boot disk (Win XP). How do I remove Win XP from the small former boot disk without reformatting (want to save the data for now)?

I would disconnect the former system drive when you format and install WinXP on the slave drive. This
will remove dual boot confusion. Once you have XP installed and working you can reconnect the drive
and delete the Windows Folder and any other System files that are no longer needed. You may have to
rt click on MyComputer>select Manage>Disk Management and rt click on the drive you reconnected and assign it a drive letter. But maybe not. Remember to reset your jumper pins on the hard drives
to the appropriate designations. Master, Slave or Cable Select.
