every so often i reinstall 98 to clean up my system. this time, i started the install, but not 5 minutes into it, i decided screw it, i'm gonna upgrade to windows 2000. since i cancelled the install partway through, i no longer had a working copy of 98 on my system, but it was still there, per say.

so i proceed in installing 2000, but i didn't format my hard drive, so 98 was still technically there.

can anyone tell me how to remove 98 from my system now? is it safe to just delete the old windows folder? also, how do i remove it from the boot loader?

Yes, just delete the Win98 folder and any installation temp files that it left behind after the cancelled installation.

Go to boot.ini and delete the line
C:\ = "Microsoft Windows 98"
