How do I remove thermal paste off my athlon

Use alcohol on Q-Tips for paste, and a razor followed by alcohol on Q-tips for thermal pads. DO NOT be stingy with the Q-Tips! Use several, or the paste will dilute and run all over your chip, and make a bigger mess!

Also, although you didn't ask, use the same method for Arctic Silver, but use dish detergent to clean it off of the ceramic.

oxy pads work great!!! usually two is enough to get it pretty clean, just keep folding them to get a clean working area so not to spread the paste around. my .02

LOL...you guys crack me up. I used a razor blade to gunk off that stuff followed by a lint free material cloth...like those eyeglass cleaners w/ alcohol.

Heck, I've already soaked a T-bird in alcohol for several hours, used a toothbrush on it, rinsed it in water, then let it dry for awhile - that was for some stubborn arctic silver stuck somewhere. The processor works fine too, even after all that. Not recommended for everyone though. 😀
