Since I live with my aunt and my cousin, who are heavy heavy smokers, the smell gets on my clothes since im around them a lot. My aunt's computer is also in the same room as my closet so her 2 packs a day travels in a cloud to my closet. Lots of cologne doesnt work sooo what do you guys do?

Dont worry. The smell will remove itself once your aunt and cousin die from smoking.

I suggest moving out, barring that well basically you have to dry clean everything. That is the only way to really get rid of it. Mythbusters had something with with spritzing vodka then washing it it helped a little. Seriously, you should not live with heavy smokers, let them kill themselves not you.

Thank them for letting you mooch at their pad. If you're paying rent, go pay it somewhere else and save the forum bandwidth.

I kind of need to know this as well because my car smells like it. I bought it used and the last owner smoked. Baking soda does not work well.

For cars, I just hope you paid less than blue book otherwise you got screwed over. There is basically no way to get rid of smoke from any fabric save dry cleaning. Get your car brought into a dealership and fork over 100-150 bones for a good thorough cleaning.

theres a very cheap answer to your question put a small amount of vinegar on a saucer and let it stay for a while it will neutralize the smell...

It can't be this simple. If it was, you just solved a problem plaguing smokers and their cars for the last 70 years.

1)get rid of aunt and cousin
2) rent a big honking ozone generator
3)go someplace else for a few days

weird, i smoke and get the smell out using this combination:
1. febreze for bed/chairs/etc
2. arm and harmer baking soda based carpet deoderizer
3. Oust air sanitizer
4. Clorox disinfectant spray for hard surfaces

Go to a good carwash and have them shampoo everything inside your car.

Somebody once told me that dealers use some sort of ozone treatment to remove the smell of cigarettes from used cars. Maybe Google will have more info.

Suggest that it might be healthier if they smoked outside.

I'm a smoker, but I don't smoke in the house, or in my cars. I don't smoke around people who don't smoke, either. I don't get much flak that way. :)

i wouldn't dare ask them to smoke outside - it's their home.

Nope, im in high school, and if i asked my aunt to smoke outside she would smack me and say no. I personally dont smell it anymore being around them so much, but people at my school do -_-
