So in my mom's car which i'm in alot the radio is broken (AM/FM Cassette) It keeps ejecting my CD adapter and I bought another same thing, so I tried a tape and it got stuck so I then went out and bought an FM transmitter which sucks (I live in the city so the FM band is crowded)So I want to know how do I get the radio out without breaking anything. I looks like the radio and gauges are surrounded by the same piece so I guess that whole piece has to come off? if it does this is going to be a Pain to do. I also know I will need a wire harness and a antenna adapter. and a dash kit this car has a really big radio I think its a Double Din (Car has a power antenna if that matters) I don't trust Best Buy or Circuit City as I have heard too many horror stories about bad installs plus I like to do things like this.

I was thinking a Sony MEX-1GP for my headunit choice as it has 1GB of memory in the faceplate (So I always don't have to burn MP3 CD-R's)
Stock Speakers are fine for now
Car is a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL

Here is a picture of the dash board and radio (Old I Know but nothing changed in the car except it has more miles )

Oh any good ways to keep the new radio from getting stolen? I know I always remove the face but they will still steal them. (Check eBay alot of the radios sold are faceless) Thanks and sorry for the long post

It looks similar to my pontiac transport. Take the closeout panel off below the steering column. That will then expose a series of screws that can take off the dash panel that covers the radio area. The top part may be held on by clips, so you'll have to gently pull on them to see. Once that is off, the radio can easily be disengaged.

You need to pull the trim piece that holds the air vents and cigarette lighter. Then you'll see the radio mounts behind that. Often, you can go to a autozone and they'll have repair printouts you can get or you can get the Haynes repair manual for a few $ and it will tell you how to get it out.

If it's like most gm vehicles, the side on the left where the light switch controls are you pop the bezel out there and just work your way around until all the clips are out.

I was thinking you could drive it to the bad part of town and park it with the windows down for about 30 minutes. That should take care of it! :)

If you're worried about dash kits and such, you can always buy from Crutchfield. Excellent support and all the parts and harnesses you'll need. You'll pay a bit more but its nice for a first-timer.
