How do i remove Silicon image raid screen on startup?

Hey guys i have A8N-SLI motherboard and every time i turn on my computer i get the screen with press <ctrl+s> or F4 to enter the Raid utility thingy... it's very annoying and takes away my precious time...

anyone know how to remove this? thanks

You cant get rid of it to my knowledge. Although if the M/B has a jumper to disable SATA then that might do it. Remember if you have a SATA drive though the M/B bios doesn't recognize the SATA drive when searching for drives the RAID controller does and the drive will show up under there on boot up instead.

There's a specific setting in the BIOS. Hunt around for it-- I don't remember offhand the exact path to it.

so i'm stuck with this annoying thing? aww man... without it my computer fully loads windows in 10 seconds... with it... 15 seconds... i'm not complaining... i thought it wasn't a normal thing... thanks anyways

That would be fine and swell if it was a PCI card. He is running a board with onbaord SATA RAID. Duh!

thinking about getting either MSI or gigabyte one... i dont like that 5 second screen at all

Ooops, lol. Well, can't he disable the SI controller from the mobo BIOS?

Surely your BIOS has a setting to disable the RAID controller. That is what will prevent that screen from comming up. OF course if you are using the RAID controller channels (RAID or just single drive(s) you can't disable the controller without disabling them, in which case.... enjoy the boot screen because it HAS to initialize the controller if you are going to use it.

It doesn't matter. If you have not disabled the RAID controller (which disables the associated SATA channels as well.... RAID or not) the controller WILL initialize and you WILL see the boot screen indicating such.

Man, read the manual already. A8N-SLI manual 4-28. Silicon SATA Controller: Enable/Disable.

Baked is right, I have the same motherboard and all you have to do is disable the Silicon SATA Controller and it will be gone (this is assuming you have no devices on these ports).

Any board is going to do something similiar to that because it has to initialize the SATA and the RAID bios in order to use your SATA HDD.

A few months ago I stated I wouldn't post here due to the overall lack of quality in 99% in the responses.

Looking the responses, I see a responses that:
1) Make no sense because the reader didn't read the post carefully
2) Are way too general, and not helpful
3) If you don't own the board, and want to help, at least go the Asus's website and download the manual!

Well I've had enough, after lurking around and seeing all these less-than-helpful posts. I think I'm going insane, okay?

Okay, if your Windows doesn't boot, it probably means your disk drive was plugged into one of the four ports that the Silicon Image provides. You want to plug your drive into one of the 4 ports on the RIGHT. They should be colored BLACK and have the plastic shrouding on the outside. These are the ports provided by the nForce MCP.

Now, if you've disabled the bootup start LOGO (the one with the picture of the motherboard with two SLI cards), you should see your disk drive initialized during the first boot screen (where you see the Energy Star on the upper-right corner).

Also, if you want your disk drive to be the FIRST SATA device, plug it into the LOWER-RIGHT port. Function-wise, there's really no difference, but I like seeing the disk drive at the top of the list, not the bottom.

In any case, even if you bought one of those boards you'd still get a similar delay unless you disabled the thing in the BIOS. So your boot times wouldn't be any better of one of those two boards.
