How do I remove RAM heatsinks from Gainward GF3? I think they are glued on somehow. I want to take off any TIM (if there is any) and use some ASII+AS Epoxy for better heat transfer. Think it will gain me anything?

Also, the heatsink/fan over the GPU is connected with pins. How do I take it off so I can add some ASII to the heatsink/GPU? I hear the stuff they put on there is not that great and Gainward skimps on the amount.

Thanks much.

You may be right about the cooling solutions Gainward uses on their products, for I have read a couple of reviews that show Gainward's GF3 getting pretty hot (hotter than most other GF3 boards). However I have also read from the same reviews that the Gainward's GF3 somehow manages to overclock very well despite its higher operating temps. I wouldn't mess with taking of the heatsinks and fan, but then again if you wanna squeeze a couple of more MHz out of it (with risk of possible damage?), then go for it!

I also have a Gainward GeForce3 (Golden Sample), and mine stays very cool even when overclocked. I did this by putting an Antec Slot Fan directly below the card. It's a helluvalot easier than getting those heat sinks off, and no doubt will do more for cooling the board.

I was going to get a golden sample, but from my uderstanding, the extra 40 bucks is for DVI support. Every review I have come across indicates that the non-Goldens OC as well as the golden's. How far were you able to OC your card. If anything I'm going to put some ACII on the bottom of the GPU heatsink at a minimum.
