How do I remove LILO from the MBR?

I need to remove LILO from the MBR to install WIN NT. I have already formated in NTFS and FAT 32 and LILO still starts up every time.

Thanks in advance.

I have found that the only real way to ensure that LILO is removed is D/L the Microshaft (figures don't it?) file DELPART.EXE which is compat. w/ all file systems. I tried the /mbr and it only works some of the time ( I lost over 7GB of info on a secondary partion due to fdisk /mbr.. I would stay away from that if at all possible.

I second using delpart! This little program kick major butty! It doesn't care what file system you are using, if you want to delete it, it will delete it. 😉

I have 2 separate physical hard disks. One running Win98 and the other Linux. Primary boot is Win98. I also have LILO installed. How do I remove the LILO Bootloader from my system? TIA

Damaged,

Thanks for the reply. The problem is I can't boot into the Linux partition. What do you suggest?

Thanks.

Like Elledan & everyone else said,

- Boot from a Win98 startup floppy
- type 'fdisk /mbr'

You don't need to be able to get into your linux partition
