This is a water pipe that goes to a water heater. (yep. replacing a water heater.)

If there are any good tools/hints, please help..

What pipe, copper or case iron? A little torch will do wonders heating it up and banging on it. Kryoil works great too. Careful using heat around something you've sprayed flameable WD40 with;)

Is it a copper pipe?

Can you get one of those little propane torches and heat it up a bit to help loosen it?

If all else fails use a BFH

Heated metal contracts and expands when cooled so yes it will definately help.

Go with the heat treatment. Can also try tightening it a fraction then try undoing it. Sometimes this can help. It can be enought too crack the " weld". Cast fittings are sooooo much fun!!!
