How do I reinstall/partition with Windows XP Pro?

Hi, when I installed windows xp pro it gave me the option of making partitions. I made one 10GB partition but that was it (I have an 80GB drive). So I partitioned the rest of it and end up with 66.7GB. However, now I find out that I can't make my files that aren't in the C-drive private, so I might as well make one big (~80GB) partition.

How can I delete the C: partition so I can make a new, bigger, C: partition?

Please help!!

There are a couple of ways you can do this:

1) Boot of XP CD, and during the install process it will let you create/delete partitions... Delete your 2 partitions (10GB and 66GB), and then create 1 big 80GB partition...

2) Boot off a Win98 boot floppy, and run 'fdisk' to delete all the partitions... Then boot off XP CD and create 1 big 80GB partition for install...

I am guessing your files cannot be made private becuz your 66GB partition is FAT32 instead of NTFS... so you might wanna try converting that 66GB partition in NTFS before you go and reinstall XP...

That cant be the case as Win XP/2K will only make FAT 32 partitions up to 30 GB, unless you used some other program to create the partitions. If it's NTFS you should be able to set permissions on the drive.

I took option #1 and it worked. The second drive is NTFS, so I have no idea why it won't let me make it private (the privatize box was greyed out). Well, no worries; it's all one big C: drive now.
