How do I reduce the fan on the eeepc 1000h?

I heard that one of hte problems with the eee pc 1000h was the fan's noise. i got the hdd version of the eee pc and there is a fan running. There was supposed to be a bios fix? A search yields only people complaining and not actual solutions. Anyone here have one?

I doubt the unit actually has any voltage regulators at the fan that can be programmed to run the fan slower.

there is a sensor that makes the fan turn on. I know a ton of people have found fixes for it, try asking the same question on the eeeuser forum...
