I want to make my desktop into my harddrive...literally. My desktop folder is in windowns on my C:/ however I would like to make my new E:/ the desktop.

I want to do this simply because I always download to my desktop, but my C:/ is my smallest drive... so I would like it to go to my biggest drive. But nothing works!

Can anybody help me please?

Grab TweakUI from Microsoft. That allows you to change the locations of just about all system folders.

Hope that helps.
Now with that said you can move your My Documents folder to a new location.
This should be where your important data is kept anyway, not the desktop.

Just right click on the my docuuments folder on the desktop

goto properties, Under target click Move. Point it to new location and wala.

Hrm... I can't seem to find out how to do that in TweakUI.... and I keep all of my files on my desktop because its the first thing that I see when I turn my computer on. I just like that the place that I see the most is the place that I keep the things I want the most. But I just don't have the space for it! I want to redirect the desktop folder just like the My Documents folder to my E drive. I essentially want my E drive to be what is displayed on the desktop, not the desktop folder being displayed.

This is so easy you will kick your self.

Just right click on the Desktop folder and drag it to the bigger partition and select move here. Your new destination will be E:\Desktop

If you want the drive itself to be the destination then you need to use a NTFS junction: http://www.rekenwonder.com/linkmagic.htm
