How do I properly adjust contrast/brightness?

I would adjust them using the controls on your monitor, then you get instant feedback and the settings you like, in program.
 
IDK another solution, never tried one and I currently have intel gfx, so I can't try it know.
I hope dell fixes this problem for the new 207wsfp coming out tuesday... I want that!
