Hey guys, how do I prevent my Windows 8.1 laptop screen from turning off permanently, plugged or not? Using the Metro settings or the desktop battery settings, the screen still turns off.
What brand is the laptop? Sometimes the laptop maker has their own software, which will override the Windows settings if they differ. So look for any software they have and adjust from there.
Ketchup is correct. Example, My Thinkpad 510 has power options from Lenovo, and that can have settings such as "never" for the display turn off. Also, another tactic is to use a free piece of software called "Mouse Jiggler." It effective makes the cursor move slightly so that inactivity never happens.
Select "change plan settings" on the power profile you are using and select "restore default settings for this plan." Then go to the left and select what you want from "choose when to turn off the display."
