Say if I want to play like Doom 2 or an old game like that, how do I? It doesn't list my sound card so I cant pick it in setup. The game does play but not with sound because you are supposed to go in setup and pick your sound card but my sound card is new so it is not listed.
What am I supposed to do in this situation?
Do I need a patch for doom 2 or what?

What OS are you running? if its XP you can try running older software in compatibility mode.

I can usually get sound to work in old games by picking SB16 or SB16 emulation in the game setup.

On the other hand, ain't it a b!tch when your computer is just too new and so damn fast that you can't play the old games?

LOL, that's what I was thinking. I actually built this computer for a friend and I put Win2k on it and the motherboard has integrated sound but this mobo was released maybe a year ago.
I will try to pick the option for sound blaster 16 and see if that works.

You might try www.ntcompatible.com. And, I've also seen a decent forum that addressed some of these issues for abandonware games. It might have been on www.theunderdogs.org, or a link from their page, or maybe some other abandonware site. You can search for abandonware in google or dogpile.

For Doom games you should search google.com for Doom Legacy, its a Win32 port of Doom with enhanced graphics, OpenGL / Glide support and tons of other goodies too.
