i have a 1 gig mpg of a movie on my comp, whats the best way to play it on my tv so i get best possible quality? i have an s-video out jack on my video card- is there a way to channel the video output through it and have my computer on my normal monitor? doe sit matter which player i use? like windows media player ? oh and what about the audio? ack this is more complicated then i thought please help!

what is your graphics card?

I just hook up, switch to TVout and let Windows Media Player do the rest... simple

You need to have the right drivers for your graphics card to use TV out or use a software solution (this is way better than the standard Nvidia TV-Out controls: TV-TOOL)

sadly this tool dosn't work on all cards: Asus GF2s for example don't like it

If you want sound through your TV, you'll have to hook up your sound card to the audio in on the TV. Also, most video cards will only output to the TV or a monitor, not both. But you'll be able to see everything you'd normally see on your monitor, so just start the movie with WMP and select full screen...

i have hercules 3d prophet. ill try those drivers u said- but other then that all i do is hook up to my tv and play the movie? it cant be that simple is it??? what are all those pc vga -> tv scanner things i see on the market- just companies trying to rob ppl?

If you are wanting to run the output to a TV and still be able to use your desktop on your monitor, you will need an MPEG decoder card such as the Hollywood Plus.

Those are for people who have video cards with no TV- out, like me... 🙂 Yes, it's that easy, it'll just use your TV like a monitor.

You should be able to see your desktop on both the monitor and tv, but the movie will only output to the primary display which you will have to set as your tv when you are watching movies.
