How do I play import japanese games on my PS2

I really want to import Soul Calibur 2 (Can't wait anymore). I heard there is some sort of regional lockout for games. How do I get around this? Does a gameshark do it?

i think u can do the swap trick with older gamsharks and a game with a bigger TOC.

Other than that you need a mod chip.

I've had SC2 for the ps2 for some time now, its really not that good.
