How do I perform a factory reset, old Viewsonic monitor

I have an older Viewsonic LCD, model number VP201B. It recently developed a corrupted display so I replaced the capacitors in the power supply. I run dual monitors and I'd already done the repair on the other so I thought this was going to be a slam dunk.

Now when I power up the recently repaired screen it cycles through red, green, blue, black, white and never shows any input. I've done some searching and the fix seems to be a factory reset. However, I can't open the onscreen display to navigate to it. Pressing the "1" key on the monitor, which is what opens it, does nothing. There seem to be lots of suggestions of "simultaneously press [X] and [Y] but none of those seem to do anything.

I usually use the DVI input but I also tried the VGA with no difference.

Typing this on the functioning display while the other one is cycling...

Thanks in advance for any ideas (beyond using it for target practice please).

It might be that it is working but just doesn't display anything,so check where the reset is on your good monitor and do the same key presses, might work.

It starts on the last used menu item so there's no telling where to begin. It's just shooting in the dark.

Bueller?

Viewsonic wants $129 just to look at it and I'm responsible for shipping both ways. I'm thinking that would be close to a new display's price. I can't bring myself to throw it away, I think it could still be a simple fix. I'll decide on a replacement within a week and put this one on the back burner. Hey, if i can bring it back a 3 display setup would be great.
