Hi

I am looking into turning a old beidge computer into a nice looking black one.

I found this page here on how to paint a case right and it is great.

but i dont want to get that shiny mirror look.

I just want a nice black look like the Antec 3700 BQE.
I dont think it would be to hard to get the BQE look.

Do i just sand a bunch, then put primer, then just coat of paint?

any tips for a first time painter btw?

thx

Your link didn't work but yes sand, prime and paint...Gloss Black and clear coating will shine the finish so if that's not what you want then look for Flat Black paint...

Not really, but, you might want to scuff up the old paint really good, then use a finer grid to finish before you started painting. It's very tempting to try and have an even coat on the first spray, but resist the urge. Try to paint with cross pattern sprays, and if you can cover all the areas in 4 passes, then your case should look really nice. Make sure you leave it well over the recommended time before spraying the next layer, I find a hair dryer would greatly reduce the wait time, if you're impatient like me. After you're done painting, get a box that's much bigger than the case and cover it to avoid dust settling on it.

Blow some warm air in the box before setting it down, wait for cure, and whaaala, brand new case.
